Grab your camera and prepare for your very own photographic journey through Hollywood’s Golden Age! Celebrating our 15th anniversary, Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes is a world-renowned exploration into the make-believe world of the Hollywood you imagine. More than a simple walk, our guides are armed with “then & now” picture books that help reveal fascinating stories behind Hollywood’s historic landmarks.
Along the way, we visit movie locations that starred A-list celebrities including Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman), Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock (Speed), Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and more. Go inside places normally closed to the public. Imagine yourself in Gangster Squad and the criminal underworld of 1930s Los Angeles as we visit a real speakeasy from prohibition. Enter into the imagination of Hollywood visionary Sid Grauman as we explore Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre – the birthplace of Hollywood’s red carpet movie premieres and featured in the (2012) Oscar-nominated film, Hugo. Imagine your arrival to Hollywood as Judy Garland in the 1954 classic A Star is Born when we visit the iconic TCL (formerly Grauman’s) Chinese Theatre.
Imagine the roar of your adoring fans as you place your hands and feet onto your favorite celebrity’s prints immortalized in cement. Learn the story behind Hollywood’s Walk of Fame as our guides help you find your favorite star. Go back in time to 1923 as we visit the perfect spot for viewing and photographing the Hollywood Sign, and walk in the footsteps of the stars as we guide you through Awards Walk, home to the Oscars red carpet venue. This tour changes your Hollywood visit from ordinary to extraordinary!

About Our Live Audio Equipment
All group tours utilize our famous Live Audio listening equipment helping each person in your group to hear as if the guide is standing right next to them. For insurance and liability purposes, our headsets are over the ear, which offers maximum comfort and audibility while also allowing some ambient sound as we are crossing streets. We do not supply earbud-style headgear because earbuds block too much ambient sound. Group members may use their own earbuds if they wish.

Group Departure Times
Groups can be run anytime you like, day or night. Your required departure time does not have to conform with our timed admission departure times noted above. We can operate the Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes tour as early as 8 a.m. or as late as 9 p.m.
Group Departure Location
We highly recommend planning group departures from our box office in the courtyard of the Egyptian Theatre located at 6708 Hollywood Blvd. The reason this is recommended is because we keep a supply of headgear, receivers and other equipment to operate the tour on site. In the rare occurrence that a problem comes up with the Live Audio equipment assigned to your group, we can troubleshoot and solve the problem easily on site. Troubleshooting and access to backup equipment is less manageable when groups are launched off site. With that said, we can arrange to meet small to medium size groups off site and within a walkable distance of the tour route if required.
Our group policy for Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes is based on a customer to guide ratio of no less than 15 persons and no more than 25 persons. For example, if the total number of persons in your group is 60 persons, we would assign 3 guides and allocate 20 persons per guide. Because our customer to guide ratio minimum is 15 persons your group minimum would be 45 persons (3 guides assigned times our 15 person per guide minimum) and your group maximum would be 75 persons (3 guides assigned times our 25 persons per guide maximum).
If your total group is less than 15 persons, billing would be based on 15 persons times the net rate we offer you. For example, if you have 10 persons in your group we can offer you a group rate however we would invoice you for 15 persons times the net rate agreed upon.
Groups Over 200 Persons
We have the ability to assign as many as 8 guides and serve up to 200 persons at any one point in time. However, we do have ways to serve groups larger than 200 by alternating activities. For example, if you have 400 persons in your group we would plan to launch 200 persons on Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes while 200 persons eat lunch. We would then swap activities (see below) for the next cycle.

Customer to Guide Ratio
As a rule of thumb, we typically assign 1 guide for every 25 persons. We try to not exceed 25 persons for the comfort of your group and to also to be able to manage the group through sidewalk traffic and into the venues we visit. For example, if you have a group of 60 persons we would typically assign 3 guides to your group and place 20 persons with each guide. Our rule is to have at least 15 persons per guide.
Length of Tour
Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes is typically 1 hour and 15 minutes long (75 minutes), however for groups we can shorten or lengthen the tour depending on your group’s special requirements. We can also operate a 30 minute highlights tour for time-constrained groups.
Distance of Tour
Our Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Tour as designed is a leisurely stroll covering a route that is approximately 1/2 mile.

Student Group Policy
Red Line Tours is a member of the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA). We offer special discounted rates for student and youth groups whether you are a school, youth club (such as a scout group or 4H group) or if you are a tour operator representing a school or youth group. For student groups we offer 1 comp ticket for every 10 paid tickets. Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) members also receive 2 hours of free step-on service as an amenity for groups with 30 or more paid group members. Contact us for more information on what we can do for your student or youth group.
Where to Begin?
Begin by contacting us to tell us about your group and describe your group’s requirements. We prefer that your initial contact is in writing so that we know we have everything we need including:
- Your group’s name. (If you are a tour operator we would like the name of your business and the group’s name as a reference)
- The total estimated number of persons in your group
- Name of the legal entity responsible for your group if different from above (to enter into our Service Agreement with you)
- The date and time requested for service
- The name, phone and email address of the person responsible for organizing your group
- Any special needs we may need to know such as a wheelchair, or vision/hearing impaired group member
Once we have this information we will provide you with a net rate which will be discounted from our retail rate and will email you our standard Service Agreement to review and return to us with signature. If you chose to move forward with service we will set up your account with our Receivables department and will require the following information:
- Name of the legal entity responsible for the group if different from above
- Name of the person assigned to your account if different from above
- Address, phone and email for accounting purposes
Once we have the above information we will generate an invoice to match the Service Agreement we have issued you previously.
Group Payment Policy
Payment for your group can be made by company check or credit card. We prefer a company check. Red Line Tours accepts most major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Payment in full is required prior to service for all groups unless an agreement is made in writing.
